BPW - On The Riding Front

Date: 01-04-2024

Andrew led the way this month, reclaiming the 2024 Distance Lead (as predicted. Come on Robbie put up a fight), but it hasn't been without incident. Both Andrew and Robbie had separate incidents with cars this month. Both had cars pull out in front of them which caused a collision. Luckily neither rider sustained any serious injuries, and both are back on their bikes. It is a good reminder to be safe on the roads, make yourself visible and position yourself to maximise your visibility.

Robbie also had a week off and went camping (and riding) in Pambula. Highlights included a family ride to Merimbula where they saw a plane come in as they were riding past the airport, and Blair learning to ride her bike (pics below).

Christian unfortunatley has been MIA from the trails since getting back from Taiwan (due to Hubby/Daddy duties) but he did have an adventure in Taiwan...

"1st ride was with a friend I made last year at Taipei and a new friend Massi From Novatec.

We rode at the famous Bunny hop track in Taichung which is next to the DT Swiss and Fox Factory and is used by the industry guys and there international guests on lunch breaks and weekends.

Stupidly I decided to wear pants and man it was a poor choice. I was way tooooo hot!!!

Tracks where super flow and fast with some tech rollers and doubles. It was tight with low overhanging trees, making it very technical in parts.

Straight after was the famous Family Mart Run for needed food and drinks!

A couple of days later i stupidly decided to go up to The Five Finger Mountain Tracks after it rainded all weekend. It was a poor decision!

Atleast I took a taxi all the way to the top of the mountain this time. The descent down was meant to be smooth sailing using trail forks but I kept taking the wrong turn and had to keep walking back the way I came. The surface was rocky and clay based which made it hard to walk up, I kept falling over while walking my bike. I'm so happy nobody was filming me!

Once I found my way down after 2 hours it was evident i took the wrong way. Last year I took a much much better route. This year I walked more than I rode! But still happy to be riding in another country!!!

Then there is Vince. Our rock solid Vince. As always Vince has been riding too and from work... but we have seen his car on the odd wet'n'cold morning. Winter is coming, but I did hear it is predicted to be a warmer winter...
